The brain is scanned with several MRI imaging sequences, all in 10 to 15 minutes. These sequences provide very advanced images of the entire brain from various perspectives. Firstly, the smaller cerebral arteries are scanned to rule out stenosis and aneurysm and then the brain tissues are examined.
Even subtle changes are visible
As well as eliminating tumours, the main reason to scan the brain is to analyse blood circulation in order to prevent a stroke. Small changes in circulation and previous strokes can be identified using MRI technology.
