Dr Rakesh Sharma, MBBS (Hons.) Bsc (Hons) MRCP PhD is a consultant cardiologist at the Royal Brompton hospital, the largest specialist cardiac centre in the UK and among the largest in Europe.  He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College. He qualified in 1995 with triple honours from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School. He then underwent postgraduate training at tertiary centres in London.He won a British Heart Foundation fellowship to study his PhD in cardiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. For his research he was awarded the Young Investigator Prize at the American Heart Association.

Dr Rakesh Sharma is the cardiology lead for cardiac sarcoidosis at Royal Brompton Hospital. He has specialist expertise in:

Advanced pacing (including the implantation of biventricular pacemakers and defibrillators)
Cardiac Sarcoidosis

Dr Rakesh Sharma has an active research programme in heart failure and pacemakers. He is the author of over 100 peer-reviewed articles, including original papers, reviews, editorials, abstracts and book chapters.
